Why can they be considered pests?
Fleas may carry human diseases such as typhus and tularemia.Eggs are laid on the hairs of pets but are easily dislodged and fall onto furniture, carpets and pet bedding (the host, being a dog, cat or rodent inside the walls).
Rate of Spread: “Serious”
How do we deal with them?
All flooring, furniture and pet sleeping areas receive a spray treatment with a residual pesticide. This will keep on working even if more fleas hatch in 30-40 days.A flea prep sheet will be provided to the customer on how to prepare the home and belongings for treatment.
As a customer what are my responsiblities?
Ensure the pet receives a flea treatment from the veterinarian. Customers need to wash pet bedding in hot water and dry on high heat to kill the fleas and eggs. All flooring and furniture needs to be vacuumed thoroughly before treatment can begin as detailed in the prep sheet. After vacuuming, seal the vacuum bag in another bag and dispose of outdoors.
